The table Santiago designed by the Austrian Frank Rettenbacher shows a slender and elegant outline, with the light shape of an aircraft wing. “Santiago is a dining table with light design, complementary to the Emil small table and the Mina console table launched by Zanotta in 2014”, the designer explains. “The idea is bringing the same lightness of the metal tables into bigger sizes versions, thanks to a contemporary project with a linear and distinguishing silhouette. The table is made of solid oak with slender legs embraced by thin wires that illustrate the flow of forces: a design inspired by the work of architect Santiago Calatrava, where the best steadiness is ensured even maintaining the wooden legs as thin as possible. The expanded top surface conceals strengthening T-profiles that prevent warping and avoid using bulky cross-bars. Thanks to Zanotta engineering process we created one of the most lightweight tables solid oak tables available in the market”.
Rettenbacher also explains: “The soft edges and the underside emphasize lightness and improve comfort to naturally invite people to gather around. It is available in two sizes (210x90 cm and 145x145 cm) to welcome up to 8 guests. The rounded off corners make particularly sense when there are children running around the home, an aspect often forgotten in furniture design. The table can be personally tailor-made to create a unique or contrasting effect.” Santiago has top and legs in solid Canaletto walnut, natural painted, or in natural solid oak or with an open-pore finish in black or white. The reinforcing tie-rods come in black for the Canaletto walnut or black painted oak models, in white for the white painted oak model, in burgundy or black for the natural oak model.
